COLDBRUH Swiss Water Decaf Cold Brew is made from beans decaffeinated with the Swiss Water® Process. It uses water, temperature and time to take the caffeine out. No chemical solvents touch the beans. The result is 99.9% caffeine-free, ready-to-drink decaf cold brew coffee with all the flavor and none of the jitters.

How Swiss Water decaf works

Soak, swap, filter, repeat: green beans soak in a caffeine-free coffee extract, the caffeine moves out, carbon filters catch it, and the cycle repeats until the beans are 99.9% caffeine-free. Water in. Caffeine out.

The solvent question

Most decaf in the U.S. is made with a chemical solvent. The most common one is methylene chloride. The FDA still allows up to 10 parts per million of it to remain in decaffeinated coffee. Ours never touches it.

Does decaf coffee contain chemicals?
Most decaf in the U.S. is made with a chemical solvent such as methylene chloride or ethyl acetate. COLDBRUH Swiss Water Decaf is decaffeinated with water only, so no chemical solvent touches the beans.

Is decaf cold brew caffeine-free?
Not 100% - no decaf is. COLDBRUH Swiss Water Decaf Cold Brew is made from beans that are 99.9% caffeine-free, so only a trace of caffeine remains.

Is methylene chloride in decaf coffee safe?
The FDA currently allows methylene chloride residue in decaf coffee up to 10 parts per million, and the WHO's cancer agency (IARC) classifies it as "probably carcinogenic to humans." COLDBRUH Swiss Water Decaf never uses it.
